BSD Update

Hi everyone,

I hope that you have been having a wonderful fall and start to the school year! We have been busy at BSD connecting our high school afterschool offerings to the GXs (graduate expectations).  Take a look at our sample program brochure here: BHS Fall Activities.sample

A big take away for me from our meeting in September was the reinforcement of the need for all Site Directors, not just the high school, to fully understand and be mindful and proactive around the GXs and incorporating them into our programs. I shared this article, It's The "Non Academic Skills" That Deepen Social & Life Skills with my K-12 team to get them to think about how we incorporate these key skills naturally through our programs and how we can more intentionally align programming to the graduate expectations, especially in the middle schools.

Finally, we are excited for our BHS Site Director to participate this spring in a graduate course on Proficiency Base Learning. The course will examine the theoretical foundations and practical applications of proficiency-based learning at multiple levels within schools.  Participants will engage in readings, research, classroom observations, and discussions in order to learn about examples of proficiency-based practices and to explore the rationale and implications for proficiency-based versus traditional models of learning, grading, and promotion.  Participants will apply this learning to the design and implementation of proficiency-based systems in their own classrooms or schools.

Looking forward to seeing everyone next week!

First Day Together

Hi! Maybe we can share this as a way to share what we are learning together, questions that we have and that are emerging. This can maybe keep us connected as we move forward? Here is a link to the slideshow from today.
